| COVINA HS: Played three years at the varsity level at Covina High School in Covina, Calif., under Head Coach Ryan Merrill • Was a three-time All-Valle Vista League first teamer and was the league's co-most valuable player in 2008 • As a senior, went 7-4 with a 2.01 ERA on the mound, striking out 103 in 76.2 innings pitched, while hitting .463 with four home runs and 32 RBI at the plate • Was also named a first-team All-CIF player in his final season and was a two-time all-area player • Was named to the 2008 San Gabriel Valley All-Star Team • Drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 38th round of the 2008 MLB Draft • Also lettered in basketball as a junior and senior • Was a two-time member of the Academic All-Valle Vista League team (2007, 2008) • Was named the Covina High School's Athlete of the Year in 2008.
