Ralphy Holmes could make the biggest impact of any of the Titans' newcomers for 2002-03... A prolific scorer who could explode... "Ralphy hasn't played in a year, which is a concern," says Coach Daniels... "But once he gets back in shape, we are hoping his scoring abilities will come back to him"... Holmes played one season (2000-01) at Allan Hancock College but attended Compton College last year.
ALLAN HANCOCK COLLEGE: Averaged a double-double (22 points and 10 rebounds) in the 2000-01 season for Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, California... Earned first-team All-Western States Conference honors... Shot 51 per cent from the floor (262 of 512) and 41.4 per cent from 3-point range (41 of 99), fourth best in the conference.
WILLIAM PENN HIGH SCHOOL: Attended William Penn High School at Broad and Masters Streets in Philadelphia but played basketball only during his freshman season for Coach Murrell Dobbins... School is located within a mile's radius of Temple University and Zakee Smith's alma mater of Frankling Learning Center.
PERSONAL: Born on July 5, 1979, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania... Parents are Ralph Edney and Michelle Holmes of Pottstown, Pennsylvania... Has three brothers -- Kyle, Jamal and Rashawn -- and a sister, Brenda... Communications major... Occupational goal is to become a radio personality... Is a rapper and writes poetry... Has played AAU ball with teammate Zakee Smith since he was 8 years old... Credits David Anwar and "Big Zack" for biggest influence on his basketball career... Most memorable sports thrill was hitting a buzzer beater to force overtime in a game in which he ended up with 49 points and his team got the victory.
