| Biography: |
| Redshirt junior infielder returns this season after missing all of 2006 with an injury. Had surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right, throwing shoulder just prior to the start of the '06 campaign. Began hitting again during Fall Ball, but the health of his shoulder from a fielding/throwing perspective could be an issue all season. Sorgi led the 2005 Cardinal in hitting with a .322 batting average. He started all 59 games at third base and finished with 17 doubles, five home runs, and 41 RBI. Earned Honorable Mention All-Pac-10 honors. Is a natural shortstop and the finest defensive infielder on the club. If his shoulder holds up, will take over the starting duties at shortstop this year. If not, will see his playing time at third base and DH. Expected to be one of the top hitters on the team and should bat near the top of the lineup. |
