| Biography: |
| Sophomore outfielder/pitcher poised for a breakout season at the plate in 2007. Was used far more as a pitcher during his freshman year. Made 19 relief appearances last season and compiled a 2-0 record with a 6.75 ERA. Led the staff in strikeouts per innings pitched (30 SO in 28 IP). Owns a high 80's fastball with an excellent curve ball and is very tough on left-handers. Spent last summer pitching in the Cape Cod League. Will likely be brought along slowly on the mound early this year because of an offseason arm injury. As a hitter, Ratliff went 0-for-14 in limited early-season action last year. Has improved as much as anyone on the team from a hitting perspective since the end of last season. Has some of the best power on the club and can also hit for a high average. Possesses good speed and is an above-average defensive player. Can play all three outfield positions well. Has a chance to start in left, center, and DH this year. |
