Andrew Green is a big-bodied power forward who has a chance to step right
into the starting lineup for the undersized Titans of 2006-07... Very athletic
and brings one year of Div. I and one year of community college experience to
the Titans' front line... Exceptional rebounder who uses his bulk to offset
marginal height for the position... Tough... Can score around the basket and has
a shooting range out to about 16 feet.
COLLEGE OF SEQUOIAS: Honorable mention all-state selection last year
at College of the Sequoias in Visalia, California, for Coach Rusty Smith...
Averaged 10.5 points and 5.7 rebounds... Shot 62 percent from the floor and 76
percent from the line... The Giants were Central Valley Conference runnersup at
12-2, losing twice to champion Fresno City College... 23-10 in the regular
season... Was selected Central Valley Conference player of the week in
mid-January after career-high 21 points and 14 rebounds in Giants' 75-56 home
win over Columbia College... Later had a 22-point game.
BOISE STATE: Played his freshman season at Boise State in 2004-05...
Appeared in 20 games for a 16-18 Broncos' squad.
PERRIS HIGH SCHOOL: Multi-sport star at Perris High School in Perris,
California... Four-year varsity letterman in basketball who twice was
All-Riverside County, All-CIF and Most Valuable Player of the Sunbelt League...
Also all-league as both a freshman and sophomore... Led the Inland Empire in
rebounding for two seasons including 16 per game as a senior, when he averaged
19 points... Averaged 3 blocks per game... Also lettered in water polo and track
and field as a thrower... His basketball and track and field teams won league
championships in both his junior and senior seasons... His senior basketball
team went 20-10... He shot 53 percent from the floor and 78 percent from the
foul line... He ranks fourth all-time in Perris history in blocks in basketball
and saves in water polo.
PERSONAL: Born on June 9, 1986, in Inglewood... Parents are Adelle
Green, Jr., and Jeanne Boyd of San Jacinto, California... Has a brother,
Darnelle... African-American studies major... Played travel ball with H Squad
and Hoop Session... Enjoys solving puzzles, building model cars and video
games... Most memorable sports thrill was scoring 43 points in a winning
basketball game and scoring from his own goal to the other end of the pool to
win a water polo match... Credits Coach Harold Jones for most influence on is
career: "He told me what it took to make it at the next level."
