Frank Robinson was selected the best "sixth man" in the Big West Conference
for 2005-06 but that may be only the starting place for a batch of individual
honors... He is a raw talent with tremendous tools and "upside" who made major
progress during the course of the season and for the last three weeks was a
starter and an all-conference caliber player... At his best coming off screens,
elevating and making a jump shot, but can also penetrate and attack the rim...
Proved to be one of the best 3-point shooters in the conference... Lefthander...
Has an outstanding attitude... Added bulk and strength during the summer.
CSF IN 2005-06: Averaged 11.5 points and 5.1 rebounds for the season
but in the last seven games as a starter averaged 16.6 points capped by a
26-point, 12-rebound effort in defeat to Long Beach State in the Big West
Tournament... Led the Titans and was third in the Big West Conference in 3-point
field goal shooting at .445 (49 of 110)... Led the Big West in steals with 48
(1.66 per game)... Led CSF perimeter players in field-goal percentage at .484
(121 of 250)... Shot 72 percent at the foul line... His three games vs. Long
Beach State reflect his season's progress: 0 points and 3 rebounds in 12 minutes
on Jan. 19; 16 points and then career-high 9 rebounds in 24 minutes on Feb. 15;
and 26 points and 12 rebounds in 35 minutes on March 9.
EAST CAROLINA:
Averaged 3.8 points and 1.8 rebounds in 26 games in 2003-04 for the 13-14
Pirates... Selected the team's most improved player... Had a 19-point outburst
in 33 minutes of a nationally televised game at South Florida on Feb. 3, making
7 of 10 shots (3 of 4 treys) in a defensive-oriented 59-57 win, ECU's first
Conference USA road victory... Tallied 12 points in a 63-50 win at Southern
Mississippi on Mar. 6... Made the honor roll.
HIGH SCHOOL: Averaged 27 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists while
shooting 43 percent from 3-point range as a senior for Coach Bort Escoto at
Sylmar High School... All-city selection and team's most valuable player... As a
junior attended Chatsworth High School and played junior varsity... As a
freshman and sophomore attended Little Rock High School where he lettered in
football (wide receiver/outside linebacker), basketball and track and field
(high jump)... Tabbed All-Golden League in both basketball and football... Made
the honor roll.
PERSONAL: Born on June 1, 1984, in Compton, California... Parents are
Frank Robinson and Margurite Flanagan of Palmdale... Has two brothers -- Jason
(19) and Angelo (17) -- and two sisters - Tasha (26) and Krystal (20)...
Communications/public relations major... Goal is to play pro basketball and then
become a coach and/or a lawyer... Chose Cal State Fullerton because of Bobby
Brown and Coach Bob Burton, who attended to him when he was injured in a summer
league game... Most memorable sports thrill was the Long Beach State game in
last year's Big West Tournament: "getting career highs in points and rebounds in
possibly the best game ever in that tourney"... Credits Coaches George North,
Ken Krofft and Robert and Dana Winn for most influence on his career: "they
forced me to want to be good, even when I was ready to give up. They stuck by me
and helped me learn"... Full name is Franklin Marquieth Robinson... Nickname is
"Big Bank." |
