Jarrel Lake had a productive redshirt season in 2005-06 and he will challenge
for playing time this year... He quickly emerged as the most coachable of the
Titans' newcomers and was probably the most improved player over the past 12
months... Very athletic and very versatile... Plays with a slashing style and
gets to and above the rim... Has a prototypical wide-shouldered NBA body...
Could see some time at either small or power forward if he continues his rate of
improvement.
WESTCHESTER HIGH SCHOOL: Three-year varsity letterman for powerful
Westchester High School program under Coach Ed Azzam... Team won the state
championship in 2003 and 2005... Averaged double figures in scoring and
rebounding... Played in the Collision and Hoop Classic Summer All-Star Games...
Played travel ball with the L.A. Stars... Rated among the top power forwards on
the West Coast by ScoutHoops.com.
PERSONAL: Born on Dec. 30, 1986, in St. Martin, Virgin Islands...
Mother is Audrey Lake of Inglewood... Has a younger brother, Eric... Undeclared
major whose goal is to play professional basketball... Chose Cal State Fullerton
because of the "good players and good coaches"... Favorite NBA players are Kevin
Garnett and Amari Stoudamire... Biggest sports thrill was making a reverse "rock
the cradle" dunk and getting fouled on the play in a summer league game...
Credits Coach Azzam for the most influence on his career: "as of right now, he
taught me a lot, but I know Coach Burton will help me become an even greater
player."
