| He was a first-team All-Big West Conference selection this past season although he still wasn’t the dominating performer (his team was a big disappointment) that he was expected to be. By mentality, he’s still more of a “scorer” than a “point guard”. Another season’s worth of college refinement would enhance his stock although he is still considered a possible second-round selection if he remains in the draft. |
| Biography: |
Bobby "L.B." Brown is the focal point of the revived Titan basketball
program... As point guard, he's the quarterback running the offense... As a
prolific 3-point-field-goal shooter, he's a scoring threat from almost any spot
on the floor... He's a recruiter, helping lure other former Westchester High
School products to his side... And as the only two-year letterman on the squad,
by default he becomes the leader of a team seeking to replace the commanding
presence of Hardy Asprilla, Ralphy Holmes and Yaphett King... The limelight is
his for the taking in 2005-06 after being overshadowed by more high profile
talent at Westchester and sharing front stage with Pape Sow, Holmes and King at
Fullerton... Selected the Freshman of the Year by the rival coaches in the Big
West Conference in 2002-03, he earned honorable mention status last season...
He's a unanimous pre-season All-Big West Conference selection for 2005-06 by
four national publications... He also is getting attention from professional
scouts... With 155 3-pointers in two seasons, he is only 36 shy of Chris Dade's
school career record of 191 (1994-95 thru 1997-98)... His .837 career free-throw
percentage is second-best in school history... With 907 points, he needs only 93
to become just the 18th member of the Titans' 1,000-point club... Ranked by
Lindy's the top playmaker and the top NBA prospect in the Big West Conference...
Some project him to be drafted as early as 2006.
CSF IN 2004-05: Was the most productive offensive player in the Big West
Conference when you combine scoring and assists averages... With four more
points he would have surpassed teammate Ralphy Holmes for the Big West scoring
title, finishing third at 16.81 points per game behind Holmes (16.92) and
Idaho's Dandrick Jones (16.83)... Brown also was third in assists at 4.66 per
game behind UC Irvine's Aaron Fitzgerald (5.24) and Utah State's Spencer Nelson
(4.75)... Brown was second in 3-point field goals made (2.66 per game to 2.72 by
UCI's Ross Schraeder) and third in free-throw percentage (.827), seventh in
assist-to-turnover ratio and eighth in steals... Averaged about 36 minutes per
game and left the floor in post-season for only the final minute out of a
possible 205 minutes... Played all 45 minutes in the dramatic overtime win at
Oregon State in the NIT... His 85 3-point field goals (in 244 attempts, .348)
were the second best total in a season by a Titan (Don Leary made 89 in
1992-93)... Matched his career single-game best with 7 (in 11 attempts) at San
Diego State on Dec. 21... Had career-high 30 points in overtime win at Eastern
Washington on Dec. 10... Had double figures in assists on three occasions topped
by career-best 13 vs. Hope International on Nov. 27... Twice selected Big West
Conference Player of the Week -- on Dec. 13 for his 30-point effort at Eastern
Washington and on Feb. 21 after totaling 37 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists in
home wins over Idaho and Utah State... Failed to score in double figures only
three times... His total of 538 points was the eighth-best season by a Titan...
His .827 free-throw percentage was fifth best.
CSF IN 2003-04: Had the best freshman season by a Titan since Tony Neal
in 1981-82, the last time a Fullerton player won freshman of the year honors...
Brown averaged 13.2 points per game (Neal averaged only 10.9 ppg) to go with 3.5 |
