IRVINE, CA - The Cal State Fullerton men's basketball team was picked to finish third and the Titans' women's basketball team was a unanimous sixth-place pick according to a poll of media members and league coaches following the 2007 Big West Conference Media Day event held on Wednesday morning at the Irvine Marriott. | |||||||||||||||||||||

The men's team received a first-place vote in both the media and coaches poll and was picked to finish third according to the media behind UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly and tied for third with Pacific behind the Gauchos and Mustangs according to the coaches. Despite going down to injury that will likely keep him out until December, senior forward Scott Cutley was named to the preseason all-conference team as voted on by the media, joining Pacific's Anthony Brown, UCSB's Chris Devine and Alex Harris, UC Irvine's Patrick Sanders, and Cal Poly's Darwin Whiten. Cutley was a first-team all-conference selection as a junior after leading the Big West in rebounding last season at 9.5 per game and was the No. 5 scorer at 15.6 points per game. The men's team opens its 2007-08 season on Nov. 6 with an exhibition against Biola at 7:05 p.m., while the women's team begins on Nov. 3 with an exhibition against Point Loma at 2 p.m.
