Senior point guard Bobby Brown, junior wing Frank Robinson, Junior forward
Scott Cutley and senior center Curtis Battles will all miss non-conference games
against NAIA foes Cal Maritime (Nov. 10) and Hope University (Nov. 14) as well
as the road opener against Texas-San Antonio (Nov. 22).
Scholarship players Brown, Cutley and Robinson apparently supplied books for
three walk-on players. Battles was one of the walk-on players receiving the
benefit as were two others who are no longer on the team.
The NCAA states that a suspension is in order for supplying books to other
players which cost over $100. In two cases, the books were less than $100 but
when taxes were added the limit was reached.
According to the Orange County Register, head coach Bob Burton "set
about scheduling teams he thought they could beat without three of their
projected starters." Burton told TitanCentral.com he never stated this and the
last thing he needs is to get other teams fired up about playing Fullerton.
"Texas-San Antonio would be tough even if we had all our players."
