Denver Lopez practiced with the Titans last season but had to
sit out the games after transferring from the Div. II program at Cal State
Dominguez Hills... Will challenge for playing time at point guard.
CSU DOMINGUEZ HILLS: Averaged 5.4 points and 0.9 assists in 1999-2000
for the Toros... Appeared in 20 games, 10 as a starter... Averaged about
17 minutes... Shot 40 per cent from 3-point range (14 of 35).
NOGALES HIGH SCHOOL: Three-year varsity letterman at Nogales High
School in La Puente for coach Bob Withers... Was team and Sierra League
most valuable player as a senior and earned second-team All-CIF and all-valley
honors... Averaged 12 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds... His Nobles won
the Sierra League title and advanced to the CIF quarterfinals... Earned
honorable mention as a junior... Made the honor roll all four years.
PERSONAL: Born on Sept. 2, 1980, in Manila, the Philippines...
Mother is Dinna Martinez of West Covina... Has an older sister, Donna,
and an older brother, Donald... Child adolescence major whose goal is
to become an elementary school teacher... Enjoys hunting, deep sea diving,
croquet and tree climbing... Worked last summer as an instructor in the
popular Titan Youth Sports Camps.
