Brandon Campbell is one of the most gifted athletes to ever have
worn a Titan jersey... He had made great strides in two seasons as a Titan
basketball player and was poised on the threshold of stardom before suffering
a knee injury in last year's season opener at Oregon State... Surgery
was not required but his brief attempt to come back proved discouraging
and he sat out the remainder of the year and successfully obtained a medical
hardship to repeat his third year of eligibility... The knee was healthy
by track and field season and he won Big West Male Athlete of the Year
honors after winning the conference championships in both the high jump
(7-4 1/2) and long jump (25-10) ... He also ran on the Titans' victorious
4x400 meter relay team... Currently holds six school track and field records:
25-10 long jump, 7-4.5 high jump, 46.98 400 meters, 6,637 points in the
decathlon and a spot on the 4x100 (40.41) and 4x400 (3:10.81) relay teams...
On the basketball court he is a versatile swing man who has been asked
on more than one occasion to help the Titans along the front line where
his outstanding leaping ability allows him to compete... Meanwhile, his
outside shot has developed nicely and he led the 1999-2000 Titans in field
goal percentage at .538 and was an outstanding .481 (13-for-27) from 3-point
range.

CSF IN 2000-01: Went down in a heap after tripping over a teammate
midway through the first half of the season opener at Gill Coliseum in
Corvallis, Oregon, on Nov. 17, 2000... Surgery was not required and his
rehabilitation enabled him to attempt to return to action in late December...
But after an ineffective 23 minutes vs. Northern Arizona, he was deemed
lost for the season and sought a medical hardship to regain the year of
eligibility.
CSF IN 1999-2000: Started all 27 games... Averaged 10.7 points
and 4.7 rebounds... Had team's best field-goal percentage at .538 and
only Ike Harmon (183) made more field goals than Brandon's 112... Was
third on the team in minutes played at 857 behind Mark Murphy and Harmon...
Scored career-high 20 points in 72-66 win at San Diego State on Jan. 5,
hitting 8 of 11 shots from the floor... Three times had 8 rebounds, one
shy of his career high... In track and field, was part of Fullerton's
Big West Conference championship 4x400 meter relay team... Also placed
third in the Big West long jump at 23-9 and was seventh in the high jump
at 6-7.
CSF IN 1998-99: Appeared in all but one of team's 27 games including
3 starting calls... Playing time peaked down the stretch and he averaged
about 16 minutes over the last 7 games... Played 34 minutes and scored
season-high 14 points in home win over UC Irvine on Feb. 13... Probably
his best overall game was on Dec. 2 at Loyola Marymount when he scored
8 points and had career-high 9 rebounds in only 24 minutes... Set school
track and field individual records in the high jump (7-1), long jump (24-5
3/4) and 440 (47.55) and was part of the record-holding 400 (41.29) and
1,600 meter (3:14.61) relay teams... Was Big West Conference long jump
champion at 24-5 3/4 and was third in the high jump at 6-9 3/4... Became
first Titan to qualify for the Junior Pan Am Games held in July, 1999,
in Tampa, Florida... Cleared 2.16m (7-1) to place second in the high jump.
CARDINAL RITTER HIGH SCHOOL: All-conference, all-district and
all-metro basketball selection for Coach Preston Thomas as a forward...
As a senior averaged 13 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 assists and 1
block... Made the honor roll... In track was Missouri state runner-up
in the high jump with a leap of 6-foot-6... Career best of 7-foot-1 1/2
as a senior was the 13th best mark in the nation in 1998 (No. 1 was 7-foot-3
1/3)... As a junior was Missouri state champion in the 100 (10.8), 200
(21.7) and 400 meters (48.0) and second in the high jump at 6-foot-9...
Best prep times were 10.7 in the 100, 21.0 in the 200, 47.4 in the 400
and 1:57 in the 800.
PERSONAL: Born on July 12, 1980, in St. Louis, MO... Parents are
Ezell and Darla Campbell of Florissant, Missouri... Has an older brother,
LaMon Bibbs, and a younger sister, Alexis Campbell... Credits Coach Thomas
for giving him great opportunities... Sociology major who hopes to become
a coach.
