Joe Furstinger, 6-8 JR PF/C Santa Margarita (Calif.) High, is a promising young post with long arms and good hands. A decent shooter to 15 feet or so, Furstinger is a deceptive athlete. With continued development, he has a chance to be among the top posts in the west for 2014.
I spoke with Furstinger recently and he gave me a rundown on the schools he’s heard from to date.
“UC Davis, Stanford, Weber State, Washington State, Portland, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado and Pepperdine,” said Furstinger.
I asked Furstinger which schools have offered and if he has a favorite.
“Northern Arizona and Northern Colorado have offered,” said Furstinger. “I don’t have any favorites.”
I asked Furstinger what he’s looking for in a school.
“I think I’d like to stay in the west,” said Furstinger “And I’d like to have a chance to play early.”
Furstinger said he’s in no hurry to reach a decision.
“I’ll probably wait until my senior year to decide,” said Furstinger.
Furstinger said he has a 3.0 GPA.
