GAME NOTES: The Titans, who play six of their final nine regular-season games at home, are coming off a 75-61 loss to Long Beach State last Saturday, a defeat that snapped a three-game win streak for the group.

As for the Mustangs, they are hitting the road for back-to-back dates, with a meeting at Cal State Bakersfield coming up this weekend. Last Saturday, the team slipped by UC Davis with a 67-65 win, the second in the last three outings for a squad which is still a game under .500 (4-5) in conference.

Cal Poly leads the all-time series by a count of 33-22, with the Mustangs winning the most recent meeting last month at home by a score of 73-67.

The Mustangs trailed by 14 points at the break against UC Davis over the weekend, so to draw to within two points at the buzzer was certainly a moral victory for the visitors. Will Taylor led the offense with 18 points and nine rebounds, adding four steals before fouling out, while David Hanson and Kyle Odister both tacked on 12 points in the losing effort. Scoring points has been a bit of a problem for the Mustangs this season, the team generating just 64.1 ppg, but at the same time the team has put up a very strong defense, one that has limited the opposition to just 57.5 ppg. Hanson (11.7 ppg) and Taylor (10.8 ppg) are combining for more than 13 rpg and because of that the Mustangs are beating the opposition on the glass by an average of almost seven per game.

Fullerton went to the free-throw line a mere four times on Saturday against Long Beach State and turned the ball over 21 times, certainly no way to stay competitive at any level. Omondi Amoke tallied a team-best 20 points and pulled down seven rebounds, while Isiah Umipig responded with 16 points, but between them they could not offset the awful effort by Kwame Vaughn who not only missed all seven of his field goal attempts, he was also charged with seven turnovers in the setback. The four free-throw attempts were by far the fewest of the season for the team and even though the Titans converted all of those tries, it was just the third time this season that the team connected on single-digit free throws. While he was held far below his average in the last game, D.J. Seeley is still the leading scorer for the program with 16.0 ppg, while Vaughn comes in with 15.3 ppg as well.

Being at home and having revenge as a motivating factor should work in favor of the Titans, not to mention an incentive for Vaughn to bounce back after such an awful game last weekend. So with that, expect to see Fullerton land in the win column once more.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Cal State Fullerton 65, Cal Poly 61
